Petra and Me

In 2022 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. I took the decision that day to go on an inner journey, to hear what my body was trying so hard to tell me. This page documents my healing journey.

Petra is the strange collection of body mind symptoms which make up my condition. Naming her allows a space to relate to my symptoms in a way that goes beyond the concept of a war, or a battle against pain and discomfort. She’s Petra because, for me, the root of my condition is fear. Fear that is literally turning my body to stone, in tremors and moments of ‘freezing’ movements
